All rights reserved. ************************************************ Gertrude Martin Russell - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post May 22, 2001 TALLULAH - Gertrude Martin Russell died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston. She was 83. Born in Castor, La., Mrs. Russell had lived in Madison Parish since 1940. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Crepe Myrtle Home Demonstration Club and Willow Bayou Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laverne Russell. She is survived by her husband, Luther Franklin Russell of Tallulah; three daughters, Louise Wimberley of Hall Summit, Geneva Russell of Tallulah and Mary Webb of Ruston; six sons, Tony Russell, Clinton Russell and Benton Russell, all of Denham Springs, La., Terry Russell of Port Allen, La., and Thomas Russell and Travis Russell, both of Tallulah; seven sisters. Beatrice Russell of Tylertown, O'Neal Nelson, Ruby Easley and Dorothy Williams, all of Shreveport, Bertha Hall and Lillian Bailey, both of Keithville, La., and Lucille Bether of California; a brother, Alvin Martin of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Gaston officiating. Burial was at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah. Pallbearers were her sons and grandsons.
