All rights reserved. ************************************************ Sam Joseph Scurria Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post, August 23, 2004 TALLULAH — Services for Sam Joseph Scurria Jr. were at 10 a.m. today at St. Edward Catholic Church in Tallulah with the Revs. Nikie Trahan and Sebastian Kallarackal officiating. Burial followed at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Scurria died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in West Monroe, La., as the result of a car accident. He was 42. Mr. Scurria was born in Vicksburg and lived in Calhoun, La. He was a graduate of Tallulah Academy and Northeast Louisiana University. He was an inspector for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and was a hunter and fisherman. Mr. Scurria was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Michael Scurria, and his father, Sam Joseph Scurria Sr. Survivors include his mother, Marietta Lombardo Scurria of Tallulah; four brothers, Andrew T. Scurria of Monroe, Edward A. Scurria of Tallulah, Gerald F. Scurria of Springfield, Mo., and John T. Scurria of Prairieville, La.; two sisters, Nancy C. Scurria of Monroe and Angela Workman of Van Buren, Ark.; and his fianceé, Jackie King of Calhoun. Pallbearers were Steve Gustafson, Marlon Evans, John Eason, Carey Butler, Charlie Price and Charles M. Finalyson. Honorary pallbearers were co-workers from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Memorials may be made to Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, P.O.
