All rights reserved. ************************************************ Sam Joseph Scurria, Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post March 14, 2001 TALLULAH - Sam Joseph Scurria, Sr. died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at his home. He was 82. Born in Tallulah, Mr. Scurria was a graduate of Tallulah High School and Northwestern State University. He was an Army Air Force major and a veteran of World War II. He was a retired chemical salesman and a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michael Scurria. He is survived by his wife, Marietta Lombardo Scurria of Tallulah; five sons, Andrew T. Scurria and Sam J. Scurria Jr., both of Monroe, Edward A. Scurria of Tallulah, Gerald F. Scurria of Springfield, Mo., and John T. Scurria of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Nancy C. Scurria of Monroe and Angela Scurria Workman of Arkansas; two sisters, Mary Ann Gilberto of Henderson, Nev., and Grace O'Neal of Monroe; and one grandchild, Joshua Q. Scurria of Baton Rouge. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ferre D'Cruz officiating. Burial followed at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
