All rights reserved. *********************************************************************************************** George Washington Sevier, Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Lake Charles American Press December 6, 1965 Funeral services for George Washington Sevier, 79, of 3824 Vanderbilt St., were to be at 9 a.m. today in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd under direction of the Hixson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were to be G. Allen Kimball, Leonard P. Hicks, James J. Cox, Charles A. Downing, Van Patrick Jr. and John G. Marcantel. After the funeral services the body will be taken to Crothers Funeral Home in Tullulah [sic Tallulah], where services will be held in Trinity Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Silver Cross Cemetery there. Mr. Sevier died at 7 a.m. Sunday in St. Patrick Hospital after a long illness. A retired engineer, he worked 18 years for the Louisiana Department of Highways. He received his professional training at Georgia Tech. Mr. Sevier grew up on a large plantation in Madison Parish. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. G. W. Sevier; one son, George B. Sevier of El Paso, Tex.; a brother, Albert Sevier of Evergreen Plantation in Madison Parish; a sister, Mrs. Juanita Cole Burton of Tucson, Ariz., and four grandchildren. Another brother was the late State Sen. Andrew L. Sevier of Madison Parish.
