All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Steve Sevier - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 20, 1975 Accidental shooting Fatal to Youth Tragedy struck the A. L. Sevier, Jr. family at 5:30 p.m. Sunday when a gun being cleaned by Andrew Sevier III at his office accidentally discharged and struck his brother, Steve Sevier who had just walked into the room. The bullet from the 30.06 rifle lodged in the young man's left side, killing him instantly, a sheriff's department spokesman said. The two brothers were alone when the accident occurred. Sevier was rushed to the Madison Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by Coroner M. Webb around 6 p.m. Sunday. Madison Parish Sheriff's Department ruled the incident an accidental shooting. Officers J. W. Wilson and Hersel Henson investigated the accident. Sevier, 22, a lifelong resident of Tallulah, attended Tallulah High School, and was employed as a salesman for Sevier Motor Company. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Sevier Jr., two brothers, Andrew and Billy Sevier, both of Tallulah; and one sister, Mrs. Roy Hunt of Odessa, Tex. Funeral services were held Monday at 4 p.m. in Crothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nat Heeth officiating. Burial was held in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Todd, Stuart Moberley Jr., Craig Clark, Marshall Sevier, Kirk Morley, Jr., Tommy Ray Williams, Bill Reardon and Pat Patrick.
