Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Tallulah, LA June 2025
November 18, 1944 ~ June 14, 2025 80 Years Old

Funeral services for Mr. James Earl Shivers, Jr. will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:00 PM with the funeral starting at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Shivers Family Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

James Earl passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, at the age of 80. He was born November 18, 1944, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to James Earl Shivers, Sr. and Helen Waters Shivers. He grew up in Oak Grove, Louisiana, and was a graduate of Oak Grove High School.  James Earl and Tiki were married December 29, 1961, and moved to Tallulah in 1963 where they raised their two sons, Jimmy and Shannon. He worked as a logger, farmer, and owner/operator of a trucking business. He also worked for the Fifth Louisiana Levee District where he retired as superintendent after 30 years of service. 

James Earl liked hunting and fishing, but his pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was very active at Tallulah Academy. He was always there cheering on his children and grandchildren in their school and sports activities. James Earl was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

James Earl is preceded in death by his parents, James Earl Shivers, Sr. and Helen Shivers; his wife of 58 years, Tiki Shivers; and son, James Earl "Jimmy" Shivers, III. He is survived by his son, Shannon Shivers and wife Angel; daughter-in-law, Laura Wilder and husband Lakey; nine grandchildren, Amanda Shivers, Jes Shivers (Elizabeth), Luke Shivers, Shan Shivers (Laura Leigh), Brelynne Richardson (Max), Seth Shivers, Rayley Fortenberry, Caleb Wilder, Hannah Wilder, and Laken Wilder; eight great grandchildren; and sister, Tommette Shivers.

Pallbearers will be Jes Shivers, Shan Shivers, Seth Shivers, Luke Shivers, Laken Wilder, and Max Richardson.
