All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Cedric Starrett - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal March 20, 1969 Services Held Saturday For Mr. Starrett Funeral services were held at 10 a. in., Saturday, for Cedric Starrett, 71, in the Crothers Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Joseph Harrison and Clark Bell officiating. Mr. Starrett, a native of Yazoo City, Miss., was the son of the late Robert T. and Ida Gentry Starrett. He moved to Shelby, Miss. when he was 2 years old and lived there until he moved to Tallulah, at the age of 19. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He attended Miss. A & M College and was a member of Lee Guards, social fraternity. Mr. Starrett was a prominent cotton buyer in Tallulah for many years. He married the former Pauline Newton on July 31, 1921, in Monroe, Louisiana. He traveled for 5 or 6 years for Chipman Chemical Co. and Lucas Kiltone, but returned to buying cotton again. In May 1955, Mr. and Mrs. Starrett moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, but were returning to Tallulah to make their home the following May when they were in an automobile accident. Mr. Starrett has been an invalid since that time and at the time of his death, was a patient at Delta Haven Nursing Home. Burial, under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home, was in Silver Cross Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pauline Starrett; a nephew, Robert Colvin Todd of Tallulah and several other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be W. H. Morris, Barton Sevier, E. B. Towne, R. W. Gandy, Henry Sevier, Jr.,
