Summers, 75, of 313 N. Seventh St., Steubenville, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center West. He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Tallulah, La., son of the late Sam and Luanne Webb Summers. He was pastor of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Morgantown, at the time of his death. He retired from J&L Steel, Aliquippa, Pa., and was a former employee of Monaca City Police Department. He was a member of the West Virginia A.M.E. Annual Conference and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Curenton Summers; a son, Jerry Summers, of Houston; a brother, Rashad Shakeed, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; three stepsons, Louis Curenton, of Steubenville, Myron Kenneth, of Miami, and Melvin Webb, of Orlando, Fla.; two stepdau ghters, Cynthia Webb, of Aliquippa, Fla., and Tamara Murray, of Miami; and three grandchildren. Friends may call at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 61 Beechurst Ave., Morgantown, from 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, until the 1 p.m. service with the Rev. Alfred Casson officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Steubenville. Gregory Funeral Home, Weirton, is in charge of arrangements.
