REDWOOD - William J. Thigpen Jr. died Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Veterans Administration 
Hospital in Jackson. He was 68.

Born in Tallulah, Mr. Thigpen had been a resident of Redwood since 1967. He was the manager 
of Valley Park Elevator and had been a member of the Board of Directors from 1967 until 
present. He also had a trucking and farming business from 1970 until present.

Mr. Thigpen was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of 
the VFW and Valley Park Baptist Church. He was a Mason.

He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Thigpen Sr.; a son, Thomas Stanley 
Thigpen; a grandson, Harry Wesley Thigpen; and one brother, Pooler Gene Thigpen.

Survivors include three sons, Edward "Pee Wee" Thigpen of Vicksburg, Bill Thigpen of 
Redwood and Sam Thigpen of Clinton; his mother, Bernice Phillips of Tallulah; two sisters, 
Delia Trichell of Tallulah and Patricia Anne Wilhite of Shreveport, La.; two brothers, 
Arthur Thigpen of Tallulah and Dexter Phillips of Alexandria, La.; a special friend, Rae 
Saget of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Eddie Thigpen and Britt Thigpen, both of Vicksburg, 
Jennings Thigpen of Memphis and Addison Thigpen of Clinton; one great-grandchild, Will 
Thigpen of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Ensign 
officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Trichell, Dewayne Trichell, Cal Trichell, Kenny Wilhite, Ronnie 
Wilhite, Steve Wilhite, Eddie Thigpen, Britt Thigpen and Michael Thigpen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Newell Simrall, C.P. Clay, Jimmy Vessell, Mike Chaney, Gerald 
Fry, John Byram, Johnny Goss and Buddy Hardy.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Mississippi Lung Association.
