All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Rosa Crump Thomas - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, October 3, 1958 Miss Rosa Thomas Dies Monday After Lingering Illness Miss Rosa Crump Thomas, 94, died early Monday morning in a Winnsboro nursing home after a lingering illness. She was a member of a prominent Madison Parish family and was born in Bessemer, Alabama where her family had taken refuge during the Civil War. Her father was Benjamin Ross Thomas, a well-known Vicksburg banker, and a plantation owner in Madison Parish, where they family resided. The community "Thomastown", between here and Vicksburg was named for Mr. Thomas. Funeral services were held in Young's Funeral Chapel at 10 a. m. Tuesday with the Rev. William S. Spilman officiating. Interment followed in the City Cemetery in Vicksburg. Miss Thomas is survived by one niece, Mrs. A. G. Bray of Tallulah; three nephews, Frank Thomas of Tallulah, Will Fitz-Hugh of Jackson, Miss., and John Fitzhugh of New Orleans. Pallbearers were Shields Bray, Nat Bray, Billy Bray, Collins Thomas, Nat Thomas, Don Sevier, W. D. Guthrie and Thomas Miller.
