Townsend - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, March 25, 1982 Services for George W. Townsend, 79, were at 2 p.m. at Crothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Crawford Williams officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery. Mr. Townsend died March 18 at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah after a short illness. He was s a native of Lincoln, County, Miss. and had lived in Tallulah for the past 50 years. He was a retired employee of the City of Tallulah and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, George Allen Townsend of Houston and Jackie Townsend of Tallulah; a sister, Mrs. Marlin Byrd of Natchez, Miss., and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jack Lott Sr., Bill Sanders, James Still, Pete King, Roy Erwin, Richard Everett, Harold Odgen and Malone Sanders.
