All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Cornelia Verhagen - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, May 1, 1959 Services Held Thursday For Mrs. Verhagen Final rites were held Thursday afternoon at 3:00 P. M. at the First Baptist Church here for Mrs. Cornelia Verhagen, 62-year-old parish resident, who died in the local hospital after a short illness. The Rev. A. S. Pierce officiated with burial following in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Verhagen, a native of Holland, had lived in the United States for 35 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in Home Demonstration club work and in the Madison Parish Garden Club. Surviving her are her husband, M. A. Verhagen; three daughters, Mrs. Jess Evans, Channelview, Texas, Mrs. Keith Seymour and Miss Shirley Verhagen, both of New Orleans; two sons, Archie Verhagen, Houston, Texas, and Martin Verhagen, Assistant Coach at Tallulah High School; four brothers, Adrian Van Zelfden, Tallulah; Cornelius Van Zelfden, Columbus, Ga., and two other brothers, one in Holland and one in Canada; and four sisters, Mrs. John DeYoung, Fair Lawn, N. J., and three other sisters in Holland. Pallbearers were: John Carpenter, G. T. Shepherd, Rupert Harmon, M. A. Phillips, M. C. Stone, Clayton Cox, Vardaman Panquin, and Roy Crow.
