Verhagen - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 1, 1979 The funeral of Martinus A. Verhagen , 85, of Tallulah was held in the Crothers Funeral chapel in Tallulah, with the Rev. Crawford Williams officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery. Mr. Verhagen died Friday morning at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg, Miss., after a long illness. He was a native of the Netherlands had lived in Madison Parish for many years. He was a retired farmer and dairyman, a former member of the Louisiana Dairymen's Association and a former Madison Parish School Board member. Survivors include two sons, Martin Verhagen, Tallulah and Archie Verhagen, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Johanna Evans, Leakey, Texas, and Mrs. Josephine Soboloff, New Orleans; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tom Evans, Bruce Evans, Keith Seymour, Marty Verhagen, Boone Halbach, and M. A. Phillips.
