All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Leland Walters - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal November 19, 1997 Funeral services for Mr. Leland Walters, age 84, were held 10 am. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the First Baptist Church of Tallulah, with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Walters died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at the Summit Hospital in West Monroe, La., after a brief illness. He was a native of Laurel, Miss., and a resident of Madison Parish for 52 years. He was owner and operator of Walters Furniture Store in Tallulah for 41 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Survivors include his wife, Voree Chappell Walters of Tallulah: one son, Leland Lamar Walters Jr. of Tallulah; one daughter, Beverly Walters of Jackson, Miss.; one brother, Hollis Walters of Gulfport, Miss.; one sister, Lucille Moss of Long Beach, Miss.: four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons Todd Walters, Lee Walters, Marshall Walters and Jerrel Sullivan and nephews Hugh McConnell and Richie Johns. Honorary pallbearers were Billy James and Archie Bynum. Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah was in charge of arrangements.
