WARD WILL BE BURIED IN TALLULAH TODAY Prominent Madison Parish Resident Dies Yesterday Funeral services for the late T. F. Ward, prominent resident of Tallulah, who passed away yesterday after a brief illness with pneumonia, will be held in Tallulah this afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. David Holt, rector of the Episcopal church officiating. Deceased, who was 73 years of age, had for 35 years been president of the Madison parish school board. The schools in Tallulah are closed today out of respect to his memory. He is survived by three daughters: Miss Margaret Ward, a trained nurse, of this city; Miss Frances Ward (actually MR. Francis Ward) of Tallulah; and Miss Annie Ward, a teacher in the Tallulah schools. Mr. Ward was for a number of years engaged in the mercantile business and also in the management of his plantation-"Crescent," He is well known and highly esteemed in this city, and the news of his death is received with a great deal of regret. From Madison Journal, March 20, 1931 T. F. WARD DIES AT HOME HERE ON MARCH 12 Was 73 Years old and Long Time Resident of Madison Parish Thomas F. Ward, long resident of Madison Parish, died at his home here Thursday afternoon, March 12 at about two o'clock, from pneumonia. He had been ill only a short time. Deceased, who was 73 years of age had for a period of 35 years been president of the Madison Parish school board and the schools were closed last Friday as a tribute of respect to his memory. The funeral services were held at Tallulah at 3 o'clock Friday, March 13, Rev. David Holt, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Tallulah, officiating. Interment took place in the Silver Cross Cemetery, where a large number of friends had gathered to pay their last respects. The large number of floral offerings attested to the large number of his friends. Deceased, who took up his residence in Tallulah as a young man, coming from St. Louis, was married in 1897 to Miss Maggie Peterkin, of Bastrop, who preceded him to the grave some years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Margaret Ward, a trained nurse of Vicksburg, who ministered to her father during his last illness; Miss Annie Ward, a teacher in the Tallulah High School, and one son, Francis Ward, of Tallulah. Deceased was at one time one of the large planting and mercantile operators of the parish. For many years he owned and operated the Crescent Plantation which in recent years was purchased by Mr. G. W. Patterson. The Journal joins many friends of Madison Parish in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved daughters and son.
