She was born September 28, 1947, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to Rosie L. and Ike Saulsberry. She was an artistic woman who loved to cook, sew and paint. She was a Christian woman who enjoyed working in the church. She was a former member of Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she began a quilting ministry. She was the visionary behind the prayer garden and was an usher, head trustee, and a member of the kitchen committee. She continued her Christian work at Bread of Life Fellowship Church where she was a member at the time of her death. Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 51 years, James Washington, her loving daughters, Shertina Washington, LaWanda Washington of Alton, Yvonna (Vincent) Washington-Greer of Kent, Ohio, 11 grandchildren, Waymond (Tahnisha), Brandon, Crystal North, Shannon (John) Ammons, Aaron, Heather, and Joey Jackson, Adones, Courtney, Miles Greer, and Carl Crumer III; 19 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Bridgette Taylor of Alaska and Lenna Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, cousin Gloria (Charles) Mays, uncles, Allen Brown of Delhi, Louisiana, and Kaliski (Lillian) Brantley of Godfrey, Illinois, mother-in-law, Katherine Tenner, two brothers-in-law, 10 sisters-in-law, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ruth Ella Taylor, and her dear cousin Walter Brown. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Bread of Life Fellowship Church, with Pastor Gregory E. Denton, eulogist. Cathy M. Williams & Sons in charge of services.
