Weeks - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post, November 13, 2014 TRANSYLVANIA, La. - Charles E. Weeks, 83, passed quietly after a lengthy illness at his home on Nov. 10, 2014, in Transylvania. Funeral services for Mr. Weeks will be Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Melbourne Baptist Church in Transylvania with Bro. Butch Goodman, Bro. Crawford Williams and Bro. Marion Collier officiating. Interment will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Crowville, La., under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation is today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, La. Mr. Weeks was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Crowville to Joshua Charlie and Lucy Weeks. He enlisted in the Army in October 1951 and served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. Honorably discharged in 1954, then-Staff Sgt. Weeks returned to Franklin Parish to marry Callie Carson Weeks, the love of his life. Charles was a retired accountant who loved the Lord, his family, gospel music, singing and gardening. Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Callie; his brother Billy and his wife Frances of Crowville; his son, Dr. Tom Weeks and his wife Robin of Vicksburg; son, Brig. Gen. David Weeks and his wife Cindy of Transylvania, La.; grandsons William Weeks (Becca) of Vicksburg, Kyle Frazier (Taylor) of Vicksburg; granddaughters, Sarah Weeks Vining (Byron) of Alsatia, La., Jennifer Weeks Williams (Jason) of Madison, and Laura Weeks Haden (Michael) of New Orleans; seven great-grandchildren, Charlie Vining, Laney Weeks, Josh and Walker Williams, Liam Vining, Allie Weeks and Eli Frazier. He is preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Weeks Stroud; and his parents J.C. and Lucy Weeks. The family wishes to thank Dr. L.P. Neumann, Jr., Dr. Henry Jarman, Dr. Martin Newcomb and Dr. Joseph Wilson and their staffs, the staffs of River Region Medical Center, Delta Home Care Inc., Crossroads Hospice, East Carroll Ambulance Service and the East Carroll Parish Sheriffs Department for their love, care and support during his illness. Pallbearers will be William Weeks, Jason Williams, Byron Vining, Michael Haden, Kyle Frazier and Andy Vining. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of Melbourne Baptist Church.
