Wilkins Dies In Baton Rouge Monday, March 3rd Former Postal Employee In Tallulah 22 Years Funeral services for Mr. Roy A.Wilkins, 51, a former Tallulah resident, but more recently living in Baton Rouge, La., were held in the First Baptist Church there Wednesday morning, March 5th. Wilkins died from a heart attack while enroute to a Baton Rouge hospital Monday morning, March 5th. He had been employed in the U. S. Postal service for 31 years, and had served with the Monroe Post Office before moving to Tallulah, where he was employed from April, 1926 until May of 1948, at which time he moved to Baton Rouge, serving as postal clerk until the time of his death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the American Legion post. Interment took place in Green Oaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. Besides his wife, Mrs. Flossie Wilkins, he is survived by four sons, Roy A. Jr., Charles, George, and Edwin; two daughters, and two grandchildren. From Baton Rouge State-Times March 3, 1952 Roy Allen Wilkins, 51, of 1959 North Blvd., died about 10:45 a.m. today while en route to Baton Rouge General Hospital after suffering a heart attack in the post office here. Wilkins was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. A Baton Rouge resident for four years, he was a native of Tallulah. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Nicholson Post No. 38, American Legion. Services are still incomplete. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Wilkins in survived by his widow, the former Floyce Brown; four sons, Roy A. Wilkins Jr., Edwin N. Wilkins and Charles E. Wilkins, all of Baton Rouge, and George Calvin Wilkins, Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Spencer, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Katherine Virginia Rush, Shreveport; a brother, W. W. Wilkins, Monroe; a sister, Mrs. Tim Powel, Enid, Okla.; two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
