All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Durwood Willhite - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal August 2, 1995 Services for Durwood Willhite were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. James Hays officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery with full Masonic Rites. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Willhite died Friday, July 28, 1995, at Franklin Parish Medical Center in Winnsboro, La. He was 72. He was born in Ouachita Parish and had lived in Madison Parish since 1946. He was a veteran of World War II and a farmer; He was a member of the Madison Parish School Board for12 years, where he served as president. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Ellerman Willhite of Tallulah; two sons, Durwood Willhite Jr. of Tallulah and Weldon Barry Willhite of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; six brothers, O. D. Willhite of Zwolle, La., Oliver Willhite of Columbia, S.C., John A. Willhite and James M. "Jimmy" Willhite, both of Tallulah, Charles Willhite of Columbia, La., and Glenn Willhite of Newellton; two sisters, Emma Louise Dowdy of Ruston, La., and Jeanette Ward of Longview, Texas; and five grandchildren.
