All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Edward Webb Williams - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal May 5, 1999 Funeral services for Edward Webb Williams, 74, of Tallulah, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, 1999, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah with the Rev. David Luckett officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Natchez, Miss., at the Natchez Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Williams died Monday, May 3, 1999, at the Madison Parish Hospital after a long illness. Edward Webb Williams was born October 30, 1924 in Tallulah. La. He graduated from Tallulah High School in 1943, where he played football. He served as a sergeant and a B-25 tail gunner in the 8th Air Force in Japan during World War II. After the war he returned to the U.S. and obtained a B.S. Degree from the Louisiana State University School of Agriculture. For the rest of his life he was a landowner, farmer and cattleman, first in the Mississippi Delta, then in Tallulah from 1960, where he and his wife Geneva established the Deer Track Plantation. He retired in 1983. He was a past president of the Madison Parish Cattleman's Association and a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah. An avid sportsman. his pursuit of big game took him several times to the American and Canadian Rockies, Alaska and Africa. He was an extremely accomplished hunter all his life. In spite of numerous medical obstacles he somehow managed to participate in hunting even into his last few weeks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Webb and Sybil Williams, his sister Julia Ursey and a son, Lane Baird Williams of Tallulah. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Rountree Williams, and his two sons, Bill Williams of Tallulah and Edward Lee Williams of Los Angeles. Calif., and a daughter, Susan Schlueter of Atlanta, Ga. He is also survived by his brothers: Milton Williams of Vicksburg, Miss., and Warren Williams of McComb, Miss. His survivors also include five grandchildren: Tres Stefurak, Sarah Williams, Edward Stefurak, Jonathan Williams, and Matthew Williams in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Byram, Benjamin Capshaw, Clinton Capshaw, John Earl Martin, Christopher Sullivan, and Jim Sevier. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 6, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the parish hall at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Tallulah, La.
