All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ D'Elmer Williamson - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 23, 1977 D'Elmer Williamson dies of injuries Funeral services for D'Elmer Williamson, 42, of Tallulah were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Crawford Williams officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah. He died Thursday at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Miss. after having suffered head injuries the previous week. The incident is under investigation by special agents from the criminal division of the state attorney general's office. Williamson was the chief deputy of the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department. He had been a law enforcement officer for over 18 years, serving 9½ years with the Tallulah Police Department and nine years with the Madison Parish Sheriff Department. He was a member of the Louisiana Sheriff's Association, the Louisiana Sheriff for Better Law Enforcement, the Louisiana Peace Office Association, the Louisiana Identification Officers Association. He was a member of the Tallulah First Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Wendy Gay Williamson of Tallulah; his mother, Mrs. Obelene Williamson of Tallulah; two brothers, Joe Williamson of Tallulah and Billy Ray Williamson of Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Marion Keen of Vicksburg, Miss., and Mrs. Jimmie Kent of Eureka, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were J. W. "Red" Wilson, Oran Lewis, Mike Porter, P. J. Smith, Buttons Crum, Bugs Gilbert, John Simpson and Bobby Joe Ezell. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department.
