All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Webb Bryan Williams - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 18, 1966 Long-Time Resident Webb Williams Burled Here Sunday, Feb. 13 Funeral services were held Sunday, February 13 for Mr. Webb Bryan Williams, 73, who passed away Saturday morning after a lengthy illness. The Rev. Clark Bell, assisted by the Rev. Howard Lips of Vicksburg, Miss., conducted the services at the Tallulah Methodist Church with Interment in Silver Cross Cemetery. Mr. Williams had been a resident of Tallulah for more than to fifty years having come here in 1915 as an entomologist employed by the Department of Agriculture. He was one of the pioneer experimentalists in the development of insecticide use for the control of the boll weevil first carried on at the Tallulah Experimental Station just south of town. An avid hunter and sportsman most of his life, he was interested in the conservation of wildlife. A retired planter and owner of timber interests, Mr. Williams was also a former merchant here. He was born in Prentiss, Miss., January 31, 1893 one of fourteen children of Issac Milton and Elizabeth Pope Williams. A graduate of Mississippi A & M College which is now Mississippi State University, he remained an active member of that Alumni association. He was a member of the Tallulah Methodist Church and had served as a member of the board of stewards. Dur-ing World War II, Mr. Williams served as his area Civil Defense warden. Besides his widow, Sybil Lane Williams, he is survived by three sons, Milton L. of Vicksburg, Edward W. of Tallulah and Warren A. of McComb, Miss, and a daughter, Mrs. Maurice Ursery of Tallulah, 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. His surviving brothers are Roscoe C. of Prentiss, Miss.; Frank of Collins, Miss.; Bruce of Gulfport, Miss. and Pratt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His surviving sister is Mrs. Sam Lee of Prentiss, Miss. Active pall bearers were Judge Cliff Adams, Gus Willett, Elmer be Neill, Jr., Robert Wiley Gandy, Phillip Scurria, Carroll Crow, Erle Read and Robert Graves. C. Williams, Sr., Mr. R. C. Williams, Jr., Mr. Carroll Williams, Mrs. Sam Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Egbert Livinston and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Baxter. Coming from McComb, Miss. were Mrs. Hallie Quin, Dr. and Mrs. H. Lee Quin, Mr. Paul Falvey, Mr. Ted Stone and Mr. Harry Thompson. Attending from Lake Charles, La. were Mr. and Mrs. A.
