L. Wise Dies Of Heart Attack Early Wednesday Ambrose Lavelle Wise, 66, died of a heart attack at his home early Wednesday morning. He was a dairy farmer and former manager of Western Auto Associate Store, a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was well known in sports in this area, he was a former manager of the Monroe Sports of the Cotton States League. Mr. Wise managed the Sports for three years during the late 1920's and also managed the Meridian entry in the CSL. Before his managing days, Wise was a home run hitting shortstop in the Cotton States League, the Southern Association and the Kitty League. His tour of the baseball circuit in the Kitty League included Henderson, Ky., and Owensboro, Ky. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10:30 a. m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lucian G. Conway officiating. Burial followed in the Saints Rest Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alice Wise; two sisters, Mrs. Sam Wilder, Monroe, and Mrs. Douglas Hahn, Madisonville, Ky.; one brother, George Dewey Wise, Abilene, Texas; seven nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were David Pickle, Jack Lightfoot, Wallace Wilson, J. C. Byram, George Watt, E. H. Stewart, James Furr and J. H. Renfro.
