All rights reserved. *********************************************************************************************** Tom Wise - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Madison Journal February 14, 1941 Tom Wise Dies After Being Hit By Automobile Tom Wise, an aged recluse living near Quebec in this parish, was fatally injured when struck by a car driven by J. W. Adams, of Anniston, Ala., on U. S. Highway 80 near his home Saturday morning. Wise, who suffered from fractures of the arms and ribs and skull, was brought to the Stevens Clinic here by Mr. Adams. He died thirty minutes later. Authorities reported that Wise had stepped in front of the car and no charges were filed in the case. Mr. Wise had lived in a hut near Quebec for about ten years. Funeral services were held from Williams Funeral chapel here Sunday afternoon with Rev. Clarence Crow officiating. Interment was in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Mr. Wise is survived by two brothers, L. F. Wise of Kilgore, Texas; R. L. Wise of Jackson, and a sister, Mrs. Annie Sills of Memphis, and the following nieces and nephews: C. P. Wise of Kilgore, Texas, E. S. Wise of Sondheimer, Mrs. D. H. Clements, Mrs. H. A. Clements, Mrs. G. C. Whitworth and Miss Darline Wise of Kilgore, and sisters-in-law, Mrs. R. S. Wise and Mrs. E. H. Anton of Memphis.
