Wixson - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Biloxi-Gulfport Sun-Herald July 30, 2009 Chief Cyrus W. Wixson, 72, of the Villages, FL died Thursday, July 23, 2009. He was born in Tendal, LA moved to The Villages, FL from Baton Rouge, LA in 2001. He is the son of the late Cyrus E. and Mardella Wixson He was a 21 year US Marine and Navy Veteran including serving in Vietnam and retired as a Chief in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8083 of Belleview, FL and member of American Legion Post 347 of Lady Lake. He was an avid golfer, LSU Tiger fan and enjoyed family times especially with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Marolynn Wixson, sons; Bill Wixson of Baton Rouge, LA, Kyle Wixson of Gulfport, MS, daughters; Dawn Wixson of Gulfport, MS, Kimberly Taylor of Saucier, MS, step daughters; Krystal Brookins of Woodbridge, VA, Kimberly Booth of Baton Rouge, LA, sister; Nancy Thomas of Greenville, MS, brother; Tommy Wixson of Tallulah, LA and 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Memorial Service will be held Monday August 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Seabee Memorial Chapel, Fellowship Hall, Naval Seabee Base, Gulfport, MS with the Chaplain Leticia Rouser officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the chapel. Committal service will be Monday, August 3, 2009 at 2:30PM at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS with Chaplain Leticia Rouser officiating and full military honors conducted by Navy Region Southeast US Honor Guard.
