All rights reserved. ************************************************ Doris Sherman Wood - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post February 21, 2001 TALLULAH - Doris Sherman Wood died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 84. Mrs. Wood was born in Merigold and had lived in Tallulah for the past 59 years. She graduated from Delta State Teachers College where she received her teaching degree. She was an elementary school teacher in Tallulah for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah where she played the piano, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and hosted the annual Easter egg hunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, D.D. Wood; her parents, William H. and Susie Jones Sherman; and a grandson. She is survived by three sons, Donald Wood, Robert Wood and Hubert Wood, all of Tallulah; two daughters, Judy Wood Lancaster of Mandeville, La., and Suzy Wood of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund, 700 Bayou Drive, Tallulah, La. 71282.
