Dr. Thomas Neumann, assistant coroner, said the child was apparently strangled by limbs in a brush pile he was playing in with his younger brother between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Neumann said the accident may have been caused by a branch in the brush pile breaking, causing the limbs to fall and trapping the child. He said the death will almost certainly be ruled as accidental in the coroner's report. The sheriff's department is making no official investigation of the death. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, and the body was taken to Crothers Funeral Home. Funeral services were Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Joel C. Treadwell officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Wood of Tallulah; two brothers, Donald P. Wood and William Wood, both of Tallulah; two sisters, Sara Wood and Kathryn Wood, both of Tallulah; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Pettigrove of Bartlesville, Okla.; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Wood of Tallulah. Pallbearers were Charles Beene, Dr. Thomas A. Neumann, Calvin Adams and Walter Scott.
