All rights reserved. ************************************************ Mavis Adams Wood - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post, January 27, 2004 TALLULAH — Mavis Adams Wood died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004. She was 85. Born in Bogue Chitto, Mrs. Wood was a member of Life Tabernacle in Baton Rouge for 20 years. She had been a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Tallulah since 1981. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Pink Adams and Clara Leona Pickering Adams; six brothers, Lloyd Adams, Herman Adams, Troy Adams, Sherman Adams, Carl Edgar “Son” Adams and William Pink “Dub” Adams Jr.; two sisters, Cora Lee Delaughter and Mildred Lee; a grandson, Weston James LeDoux; and a great-grandson, Jason Jordon. She is survived by two sons, Johnny Wood of Monroe and Sam Bailey of Natchez; four daughters, Erlene Brice of Delhi, Shirley Welch of Minden, La., Ruth McDonald of Baker, La., and Brenda Wildman of Zachary, La.; one brother, Floyd “Buddy” Adams of Walker, La.; two sisters, Alma Lambert of Monticello and Margie Mason of Wisner, La.; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church of Tallulah with the Revs. Gregory Nichols and B.A. Spell officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Memorial Park Cemetery in Delhi under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi. Pallbearers will be Earl Lee Welch III, Glenn Ray Welch, David Bailey, Adam Mardean Welch, Rev. William Timothy Welch, Rev. Keith DeWayne Butler, Gary H. McDonald Jr. and Brandon M. LeDoux.
