All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Edgar Carneal Woodyear, Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Baton Rouge Advocate & Monroe News-Star September 6, 2014 Edgar Carneal Woodyear, Jr. of Jackson, LA, passed away on September 4, 2014, in Baton Rouge, LA, following a brief illness. Mr. Woodyear, 74, was a retired engineer, farmer and contractor. He grew up and resided in Mound, LA, until his retirement in 2001. He was born on October 27, 1939, in Vicksburg, MS, and gave generously of his time to many civic, charitable and government entities. He was a graduate of Tallulah High School and Louisiana State University. At his death, he was a parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church, The Rotary Club of St. Francisville, East Feliciana Economic Development District, Jackson Historic District and other civic organizations. He is survived by his wife, Mary Dudley Acosta Woodyear (Jackson), daughters Olivia Woodyear Elliott (Neal) and Maria Woodyear Bowen (Phillip); grandchildren Virginia Routh Bowen, Neal Risley Elliott, III and Marshall Fielding Elliott all of Baton Rouge; sisters Dorothy Anne Woodyear Milliken (Baton Rouge), Emily Woodyear Neumann (Tallulah) and Mary Woodyear Gallent (Baton Rouge). He was preceded in death by his father Edgar Carneal "Blue" Woodyear, Sr.; his mother Dorothy Maxwell Woodyear; and his sister Susan Woodyear Ingram. A visitation will be held at the family home, "Roseneath," in Jackson, LA, on Sunday, September 7, from 4-6 PM. Visitations will resume on Monday, September 8, at Grace Episcopal Church in St. Francisville from 10-11 AM followed immediately by a Eucharist. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Grace Episcopal Church (P.O. Box 28, St. Francisville, LA 70775), Trinity Episcopal Church (P.O. Box 208, Tallulah, LA 71282) or a charity of their choosing.
