Mrs. Shirley Sanderford Woolridge, 80, of Slidell, Louisiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 14, 2020.  Shirley passed away peacefully at her home with her family under the supervision of Passages Hospice

“Grandma Woolridge” was born on July 24, 1940, to Hazel Creel and A.V. Sanderford, in Tallulah, LA.  She spent most of her childhood in New Orleans.  In New Orleans, she met the love of her life and married David Alva Woolridge, Sr., recently celebrating 64 years of marriage.  She devoted her life to being a loving and caring wife, mother, “Grandma”, mother-in-law, “Aunt Shirl” and friend.  She loved making intricate cloth dolls and their clothing, collecting Christmas decorations, thrift store shopping, family gatherings, reading mysteries and baking (especially cinnamon rolls). 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters and her brother. 

She is survived by her husband, David Woolridge, Sr; four children, David “Sonny” Woolridge, Jr and wife Terri of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Dale Woolridge and wife Stacie of Slidell, Louisiana; Donald Woolridge and wife Beth of New Orleans, Louisiana; Liz McCurley of Slidell, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Abbie Garrison and husband Dan; Noah Woolridge and wife Kate; Melissa Woolridge; Davey Woolridge; Wesley Woolridge; Katherine Woolridge; Sarah McCurley; William Woolridge; Eli McCurley; and one great grandchild, John Woolridge. 

 A service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Boulevard W, Slidell, LA 70460.  Services will be officiated by Jonathan Buras.  Interment will be at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460. Visitation will precede the service and be held at Honaker Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon.
