Services for David Benjamin Yates, 19, who died on March 11, 1995, at the Riverland Medical Center, 
Concordia Parish, were held Tuesday, March 14, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the 1st Baptist Church in Oak Grove, 
La., with the Rev. Kenneth King and Milton Pray officiating.

David Benjamin Yates was born on June 26, 1975, in Lake Providence, La., to Leslie and Carolyn Yates 
of Kilbourne, La. He was a journalism major at LSU where he was on the Student Advisory Council. He 
was awarded the Manship Scholarship for Journalism at LSU and had been on the Dean's List.

A 1993 graduate of Tallulah Academy, David was the Co-Valedictorian of his graduating class. He was a 
three-year letterman in football, basketball, and track. He was also a member of the MPSA Football 
Champions in 1992 with an undefeated season.

David was a member of the Hill Baptist Church in Oak Grove where his father is currently the pastor.

Survivors include: Parents Leslie & Carolyn Yates, Kilbourne, La.; Brothers Mark Yates, Baton Rouge, La., 
Adam Yates, Kilbourne, La.; Sister, Rachel Yates, Kilbourne, La.; Grandparents Thelma Yates, Monticello, La., 
and Seeora Breedlove, Tallulah, La.; Aunts Patsy King, Lake Providence, La., Jean Callen, Vicksburg, Miss., 
Virginia Coody, Monroe, La., Anna Bowers, Vicksburg, Miss.; One Great Aunt Lanie Nelson, Monticello, La.

Pallbearers were: Chris Neumann, Ben Neumann, Brian Johnson, Darryl Ellerbee, Robert Hugh Dozier, Heath Ezell.

Honorary Pallbearers were: Corey Maxwell, Eddie Russell, Sonny Muse, Coach Racer Holstead, 
Coach I. T. Crothers, John Robert Gaumnitz, Mack Marsh, Wade Hargrove, Bernie Luiena, Mark O'Dowd.
