All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Ednah Maxwell Yerger - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 22, 1958 Services Held For Mrs. George Yerger Wednesday Mrs. George Sizer Yerger of Mound, passed away at her home on Hecla Plantation Tuesday morning at 9:30. Besides her immediate family, her sister, Mrs. John Potts of Monroe, was with her. Ednah Maxwell was born July 1, 1878. Her parents were from Sullivan, Ind. They were Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Maxwell. The family moved to the Mound vicinity many years ago, living on Killarney Plantation, where March 7, 1900, Ednah Maxwell married George Sizer Yerger at the family home. They had six sons, all surviving their mother, Mr. Maxwell Yerger, Mr. George Yerger, Jr., Mr. Andrew Yerger, Mr. Edward Yerger, Mr. Bill Yerger, and Mr. Rufus Yerger. All except Mr. Rufus Yerger are businessmen and planters. He is city attorney for Tallulah. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Four sisters survive her; Mrs. Potts, Miss Alma Maxell; Mrs. E. C. Woodyear and Mrs. Paul Arbuthnot of Canton, Miss. Beside this large family Mrs. Yerger had many devoted friends. She was a very devoted wife and mother, a delightful homemaker for her family. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church which she served diligently all her life. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Tallulah Book Club, and Madison Parish Garden Club. She also served on the Madison Parish School Board. Services were held at Trinity Episcopal Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Wm. S. Spilman, Rector of Trinity Church officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg in the family lot. Crothers Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were A. N. Duke, W. P. Sevier, Jr., H. C. Sevier, Jr., Elmer Neill, Jr., Nolan Dixon, George Eggleston, Joe Milton Clark and Dr. George M. Webb.
