Catherine (Speights) Bowser

Catherine Bowser was born on August 7, 1929 in Silver Creek, Mississippi to the union of Fletcher and Julia Speights. Catherine completed her high school years in Mississippi and moved to New Orleans as a young lady in the mid 1940's. Catherine's first marital union was with the late Willie Shelby Williams from which two sons were born, Jerry and Raymond. In her early days in New Orleans Catherine worked at the Baumer Foods factory. It was in 1953 that Catherine met the late Charles Bowser and entered into her second marital union from which two more sons were born, Cedric and Harold. Catherine and Charles were happily married for 54 years until his death in 2007. She was a devoted housewife and occasionally performed domestic work for a few years. Catherine had a deep rooted faith in Christ. She departed this life on January 29, 2017 at the age of 87 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Fletcher and Julia Speights and her only sister, Dorothy Nelson. Catherine was a very active and dedicated member and officer of I.B.P.O.E.W. - Elks and remained so until her passing. She leaves to cherish her memory: four sons - Jerry (Geisha), Raymond (Angel), Cedric (Valerie), and Harold; one step-brother Gerald Daniels (Kim), seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, and a host of other relatives and friends. LUTCHER - Rance Brown, 19, a native of Garyville and resident of Metairie for six months, died Aug. 31. LUTCHER - Joseph Campbell, 82, a native of Mt. Airy and resident of New Orleans, died Dec. 7. He was the husband of Addie Banks Campbell and father of Velma Ellis, Iris Lee, Daisy, Grace, Royal and Joseph Campbell Jr., Joseph Henderson and the late Lula Campbell. LUTCHER - Harold James Hawkins, 75, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 1. He was the father of Yolanda Osuh and Tyrell J. Hawkins. He was the son of the late Nealy and Carrie Cooper Hawkins. He is also survived by three grandchildren. Services were Dec. 8 at United Methodist Church Lutcher Chapel, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher.

The widow of Russell Hill (1894-1969), Beatrice Cooper Hill passed away at St. James Parish Hospital, Lutcher, Louisiana on October 30, 1970. She is survived by four siblings: Octavia, David (Dee), Welmon and Earl Cooper. Many nieces and nephews also mourn her passing. A native of Demopolis, Ala., and a resident of Lutcher, he died Friday, March 30, 2007, at 10:20 a.m. in St. John Parish as a result of drowning. He was 66. He is survived by his companion, Veronica Kennard; son, Michael; daughter, Demetrious; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. Morris Martin Sr.

Morris Martin Sr. was born on October 15, 1924, to Adam Martin and Mary Foster. He was 93 years old, when he peacefully departed this life on August 30, 2018. He was a Veteran of World War II. At age 19 he entered the United States Army. He completed Basic Training in New Orleans, LA. His technical training was completed in Seattle, WA. From there he would go to the jungles of New Guinea. Then eventually to the Invasion in the Philippines. He would go on to receive several decorations and citations. He met and married Rose Mary Gant on July 6, 1950. They were blessed with 10 children from this union. They also were the guardians of 5 children that they loved as their own. Morris loved the Lord and he loved to sing. He was baptized by the late Rev. Versey Michael at New Zion Baptist Church, where he was still a member up until his passing. Yvonne Priscilla (Hansley) Scott

Sis. Yvonne Priscilla Hansley Scott passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at her residence in Lutcher, LA, at the age of 66 years old. Sis. Yvonne P. Scott was born in New Orleans, LA to Clarence and Mildred Hansley. She accepted Christ at the age of 12 and was baptized by Rev. James Gordon at the King David Baptist Church. She later joined the King Solomon Baptist Church under the Leadership of Rev. Benjamin Scott and was a devoted choir member until she became ill. Sis. Scott was married to Whitney Scott and after several years the couple separated. She leaves to cherish her memory her Special Pal - Leon Brooks, her brother, Leonard Hansley (Linda), 3 neices- Sherian Lovett, Anedra Williams, Nyka Hansley, 5 nephews - Walter Hansley Jr., Adrian Hansley, Byron Hansley, Stephen Hansley, and Gerren Hansley. One uncle, Richard Manuel, one aunt; Mary Penny, one god-child; Chakira Brown, and Carisa Russell whom she loved as a daughter and her siblings, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Johnny Taylor

Johnny Taylor, 51, a native of Gramercy and resident of Kenner for 15 years, died on Feb. 21, 2000. He was the husband of Patricia Carter, father of Demerick and Emmanuell Carter and step-father of Oranetta Chaney, Vanessa James and John, Alvin, Delan and Chico Carter. He was the son of Albertha Taylor and the late Arthur Taylor and brother of Joann Perrilloux and Cheryl, Ronald, Lionel, Stanley, Curtis and Arthur Taylor Jr. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren. He was a graduate of Cypress Grove High School in Lutcher and former president of Men of Distinction Social and Pleasure Club. Services were held Feb. 28 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher.

Dorothy (Warren) Tyler

Dorothy Warren "Dot" Tyler, 63, a native of Laurel, MS, and resident of Lutcher, died Feb. 4, 2000. She was the wife of Alvin Tyler and mother of Madrina Jones, Nancy Duhone and Thaddeus Tyler. She was the daughter of the late Readas and Roberta Warren and sister of Delores McCullen, Catherine Simms and Joyce Warren. She is also survived by five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild. Services were held Feb. 10 at United Methodist Church, Lutcher Chapel, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery.

Thaddeus Tyler

On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, God called one of his angels, Thaddeus Tyler into eternal rest at the age of 62. He was born on August 27, 1957 to the parents of the late Alvin and Dorothy Warren "Dot" Tyler. Thaddeus was the father of Tornell Tyler, Neal Fife, Shenika Duhone, and Barbara Brown. The brother of Nancy Duhone, Gloria Knight, and Osborne Kelson. Thaddeus accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Israelite Baptist Church by the late Reverend Johnson and attended First Baptist Church of Vacherie. He enjoyed spending time with his loving family. The Israelite Baptist Church are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, March 14, 2020 for 11:00 a.m. at the Israelite Baptist Church, 2192 Alexander Street, Lutcher, LA. LUTCHER - Beverly Storks Williams, 58, a native and resident of Lutcher, died July 16. She was the wife of the late Eddie Williams and mother of Nila Lewis and Marla and Roderick Storks. She was the daughter of Doretha Johnson Storks and the late Wilbert Storks and sister of Jocelyn Johnson and Laura, the Rev.
