Louisiana Cavalry Regiment (Civil War)
The following men were serving with the 8th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment when General E. Kirby Smith, C. S. A. surrendered to Major General E. R. S. Canby, U. S. A. on May 26, 1865 at New Orleans, LA. The 8th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment was formed by consolidation of the 1st & 2nd Battalions Louisiana State Guards Cavalry on Oct. 27, 1864.
