Sheriff's Sale - The State of Louisiana, Parish of East Feliciana 7th District Court. No. 2457. J. L. Sizemore vs. A. W. Dent. By Virtue of a writ of fieri facias to me directed in the above entitled suit. I have seized and will offer for sale at the steam saw mill of the defendant, A. W. Dent, in said Parish, on the First Saturday of August, 1856, at 11 o'clock A. M., the following property, to satisfy plaintiff's demand and all costs, to-wit: Thirty-five thousand feet of Lumber, consisting of Weather-Boarding, Flooring, Ceiling, Scantling, Inch Plank – Rough Edge – and a lot of Joist. Terms of Sale. A credit of twelve months. Purchasers will be required to give their twelve months bond, with approved personal security. July 12, 1856 B. M. G. Brown, Sheriff.

Notice - My father, Jonas K. Stuart, was captured in the year 1835, in the month of November, and was taken off the ship Mary Jane, in the conflict of the republic of Texas, and was shot as a prisoner at the city of Tampico, Mexico. I am now the only surviving heir of said deceased, being the only son. I intend after legal publication, according to the laws of Texas, to apply for whatever head right, bounty land, or donation lands, that my father may have been entitled to for his services aforesaid. Police Election. It is ordered that an election be held on Saturday the thirteenth day of June, 1857, in the seventh Ward, at the place of holding the general eections, in said seventh Ward, in the Parish of East Feliciana, for the purpose of electing a member to the Police Jury, to represent said Ward, in the place of Isaac N. DeLee, resigned: said election to be conduted by the commissioners of elections for said Ward according to the exisiting laws regulating elections. W. M. Jordan, President Police Jury.
