I am looking for any information on David Madison YARBOROUGH b.Aug 27, 1852 in East Feliciana Parish. 1860 census shows him with mother or stepmother Emiline YARBOROUGH (age 33) living in a boy's school or something. They are listed under R.C. STOKES, a teacher. I would like to know anything about his family! Even a guess would be nice. David Madison YARBOROUGH was married to Ella Lee Hall in 1875 in La. They came to Texas after 1890, so they should be listed together somewhere there. There was an older David Madison YARBOROUGH listed in the 1850 census of E. Feliciana parish as head of a household (age 34) and wife Sarah (age 40) (nee: YARBOROUGH). David was said to be orphaned after his mother died and was carried with a CSA unit throughout the war. David died in Hill Co. Texas in 1926.b Thank You..Pat Hardison......hardison@xroadstx.com

I am researching David P. Pool (Pettypool) my gggrandfather who according to the public lands, Claims West of Pearl River, his time of settlement in Feliciana was December 1804. His estate settlement and a petition of a Richard Taylor for tutorship are on file in the courthouse in Clinton. The petition, dated 10/27/1830, states " David P. Pool lately departed this life in said parish having among other children, four minors Baxtor, Huldah, David, and Nancy." "have no relations--except their brothers Coldwell, Burrell, Leonard, Spencer, and Timothy Pool." The above mentioned brothers and Baxtor are listed on 1840 Census Catahoula Parish Census and Spencer and David later moved on to Texas. Pool lately departed this life in said parish having among other children, four minors Baxtor, Huldah, David, and Nancy." "have no relations --except their brothers Coldwell, Burrell,Leonard, Spencer, and Timothy Pool." I am trying to bring these families up to present date. David was apparently m. in S.C. and later in Amite Co. Miss. to Margaret Anderson 3/16/1819, and then to Frankie Wright 3/14/1822. He is also listed in Hephzibah Baptist Church Records. I am looking for info on BYRD MITCHELL who was on the 1880 Choctaw County, Ms, census, born in 1822 in LA. I believe his daughter, Josephine married a Bush and later an Avant (1886?) and moved to the East Feliciana Parish area. They had children Peter Elmo Avants, Mary Alice Avants, Thomas Edgar Avants, and Joe Leonard Avants. Thank you, Virginia Mitchell Edwards, Auburn, AL

I am searching for information concerning my great grandaunt, one Nancy E. Lee. We do not know her married name. She appears to have married and settled in the Slaughter area sometime after the mid 1870's . . .her father, and my second great-grandfather, Zachariah Z. Lee appears to have lived with her [ and her family?] in the Slaughter area, off and on, from the 1880's to the 1902, when he died in Slaughter at her home. [ this is all based on his CSA pension records on file with La.] . . He may be buried with her and her family . There is also reason to believe that she may have had at least one son [ listed as a nephew in the 1880 census of St.. Helena Parish and living with ZZ and her brother, and my great grandfather,Frances Monroe Lee] . . .we would love to find more inf. on any of these folks . . thanking you in advance . .Clifton M. Looking for information on the Insane Asylum in Jackson. My great uncle Elisha "Lidge" Bailey was taken there in the late 1870's or the 1880's. He is not with his family in the 1880 census of Claiborne Parish. His brother Abraham "Abe" Bailey said that he was taken away and that he never saw him again. Lidge would have been in his 20's when he was institutionalized. I don't know anything else about Elisha"Lidge" Bailey. I am looking for a patient list of that hospital that would have Lidge Bailey's name on it. His parents were name Oliver & Elsey Bailey they lived in Athens,Louisiana, they were ex-slaves and they were sharecroppers. I have no information if he was married or had any children. Lidge might have been there from 1880's until his death.
