Barbara Ruth Purvis passed away on November 28, 2025, at her home in Bastrop, LA. She was 84.

Barbara was born on August 8, 1941, the daughter of Charlie Moore and Myrtle Ree Freeman. She raised her family at Willow Bayou Baptist Church and attended numerous other churches as she moved. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and quilting. She had many friends that she enjoyed spending time with and having her coffee. Most of all she loved her children and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Daniel “Dan” Purvis, children Angel Hogard and David Purvis (survived by Merri) and siblings Geneva Isaac, Jake Moore, Buddy Moore and Millie Rash.

She is survived by her sons Edgar Purvis, Kevin Purvis (Christal) and Don Evans (Annette); daughters Penny Razer (Keith), Kathy Hankins (Tommy) and Kaaren Lynch (David); brother Joe Moore (Connie); sisters Carline Wallace (John) and Edith Hyde (Paul); 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Willow Bayou Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Jordan and Bro Allan Jordan officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Evans, Mark Razer, Dewitt Hankins, Jeremy Purvis, Joseph Purvis, and Brad White. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Fontenot and Houston Fontenot.
