Bud was the youngest child of James Monroe Markham and his wife Nannie Bell Newman.
James Monroe Markham was born 1853, Bienville Parish, Louisiana, died 1936, Texas.
James was the son of John B. Markham, an early landowner of Bienville Parish and his wife Sara E. Upshaw, and grandson of John Upshaw, also a one-time resident of Bienville Parish.
Sara was the sister to James Upshaw, who was the sheriff of Bienville Parish around that time.
