STRICKLAND

"At Rest"

Across the Highway (441) was located the James Strickland house which my brother-in-law remembers well. Roger Venable said he has been there many times and that the house stood until not so long ago.

The cemetery is in a very sad condition. No care has been given it and the tombstones seem to have been moved from their original sites.

Willis Henry Strickland and his wife Lou Amy Strickland are second cousins.

Velma and I visited the grounds of the house, barn and other buildings that made up the beautiful and spacious home of our great grandparents (maternal), Henry Kinchen and Elizabeth Smith Strickland. J.D. Redmond was our guide, and he grew up on this place.

Lanell C. Heap, October, 1969

Bible record of Henry Kinchen Strickland and Elizabeth Jane Smith shows births of the following children: The Baby (nameless) was born Aug. 15, 1854, and Margaret A. Strickland was born Apr. 15, 1854.

Thomas K. Strickland was born Feb. 27, 1962. No further record indicates he probably died in infancy.

Depressions indicating graves are in this cemetery.
